Advantage for horses and animals Veterinary shock wave therapy device Horse shock wave

Working principle:
Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a popular treatment method for addressing common concerns, including heel pain, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, tennis elbow, shoulder tendonitis, lateral epicondylitis, and more. It is considered a groundbreaking treatment that can make common problems like heel pain virtually obsolete. Extracorporeal shockwave therapy is believed to provide long-lasting analgesia and stimulate the healing process for orthopedic conditions.

While a veterinary clinic can administer ESWT on an inpatient basis, most practitioners bring the therapy to their equine clients. The horse remains stationary in its stall and is usually lightly sedated to prevent excessive movement during treatment. A veterinarian uses a portable unit to generate high-pressure acoustic (sound) waves. The device is held against the injured area (bone, joint, tendon, or ligament) for approximately 20 minutes. A typical course of therapy includes three treatments at three-week intervals.

What happens to the tissues treated with this therapy? Shockwave therapy device for horses

While the exact mechanism is not yet known, ESWT often leads to improved blood flow due to the dilation of blood vessels in and around the injured area. The growth of new blood vessels has also been recorded.

Significant pain relief is evident almost immediately, although slight swelling and tenderness may be noticed for a few days. ESWT also has a positive effect on the concentration of transforming growth factor beta-1, which stimulates cellular activity. In addition, ESWT influences bone remodeling by thickening the outer layers and strengthening the cellular network underlying the articular cartilage.

Typical Indication

Shockwaves have been successfully used to treat many soft tissue problems, muscle injuries, tendon injuries, etc., in horses and other animals. Shockwave therapy device for horses

This is the wonder of the shockwave machine—it can deliver energy deep into the tissue, thus healing problems that cannot be treated conventionally.
